Islamabad, February 16: A tragic series of road accidents in Pakistan’s Sindh province resulted in the deaths of sixteen individuals and left 45 others injured, as reported by police.
The first incident occurred when a van, en route to the Lal Shahbaz Qalandar shrine in Sehwan city, collided with a trailer near Qazi Ahmed town in the Shaheed Benazirabad District on Saturday, killing five and injuring ten.
Qazi Ahmed Station House Officer (SHO) Waseem Mirza elaborated that the fast-moving van first struck a donkey cart before crashing into an oncoming trailer, as noted by the Dawn newspaper.
In a separate incident, 11 people lost their lives and 35 were hurt near Ranipur in Khairpur district, following a collision between a bus from Burewala and a rickshaw on the National Highway.
All deceased passengers were identified as residents of Punjab’s Burewala.
Fatal accidents on highways are alarmingly common in Pakistan, primarily attributed to excessive speed, reckless overtaking, and violations of traffic regulations. (PTI)
