Beijing, Jan 13: A 5.0-magnitude earthquake struck Dingri County in the Xigaze region of the Tibet Autonomous Region, China, on Monday night. The tremor was felt around the sacred town of Xigaze at 8:58 PM local time, as reported by the China Earthquake Networks Centre (CENC). This area had previously experienced a 6.8-magnitude earthquake on January 8, which resulted in 126 fatalities and left 188 others injured. In response, China has mobilized extensive relief and rescue efforts in the region. According to state-run Xinhua news agency, the quake on Monday occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers. Following the January 8 earthquake, the region has recorded over 640 aftershocks. (PTI)
