KATHMANDU, Feb 28: A significant earthquake, measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale, struck near Kathmandu, Nepal, early Friday morning. Fortunately, there have been no immediate reports of damage or casualties due to the quake. The tremor was detected along the Kodari Highway in Sindhupalchowk district, approximately 65 kilometers east of Kathmandu, at 2:51 AM, as reported by the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre.
