New Delhi, December 10: On Tuesday, Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced that AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal will soon receive a government accommodation, which he is entitled to as the head of a national party.
During a press conference, Khattar stated that Kejriwal qualifies for a Type VII bungalow as the president of a national party.
He noted, however, that all Type VII bungalows are currently occupied.
“Right now, we have only Type V and VI bungalows available, but there are no Type VII accommodations available at the moment. Kejriwal will be allocated a Type VII bungalow as soon as one becomes free,” Khattar explained.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been pressing for a central government accommodation for Kejriwal, emphasizing his entitlement as the convenor of a national party.
The organization recently sent a letter to the Union Housing Ministry reiterating this request.
Kejriwal, who stepped down as the Delhi chief in September, moved to AAP Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal’s official residence at 5 Ferozeshah Road in October. (PTI)
