JAMMU, Jan 18: This statement addresses recent allegations suggesting that the recent personnel transfers in the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Jammu and Kashmir were punitive measures taken in response to corruption exposure. These allegations are misleading and factually incorrect, as stated by an official report.
“Transfers are a standard administrative procedure and a normal service occurrence; the Government ensures that anti-corruption initiatives persist uninterrupted. One officer recently transferred from the Anti-Corruption Bureau had been with the agency for over six years, significantly surpassing the typical tenure for such roles, while the other two have also fulfilled tenures of three years. These changes were necessary and aligned with standard rotational policies applied throughout government departments,” the report asserted.
“The assertion that these officers were dismissed for confronting corruption is unfounded. In reality, the rotation of personnel within the Bureau began in 2023, though these transfers were delayed due to administrative necessities. Misrepresenting a standard transfer as politically motivated not only distorts the truth but also undermines public confidence in institutions. None of these officers are involved in the oversight or investigation of the recently filed FIRs at the Anti-Corruption Bureau,” the statement continued.
The ACB continues to operate effectively, maintaining its mandate to investigate corruption cases impartially and free from external influences. Routine personnel transfers do not compromise the agency’s operations or integrity, and the Government remains dedicated to upholding transparency, accountability, and due process in its anti-corruption efforts, the statement concluded.
