Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Feb 17: The Adani Foundation has joined forces with GEMS Education, a renowned global entity in the private K-12 education sector, to create centers of learning across India.
With an initial contribution of ₹2,000 crore from the Adani family, this collaboration aims to make high-quality education and learning facilities accessible to individuals from all socioeconomic backgrounds, as stated by the Adani Foundation on Monday.
Serving as the corporate social responsibility (CSR) branch of the Adani Group, the Foundation emphasizes that this partnership aligns with Chairman Gautam Adani’s philosophy: “Service is meditation, service is prayer, and service is God.” This initiative is also set to foster premier research institutions focused on enhancing teaching skills through innovation and capability building.
The first ‘Adani GEMS School of Excellence’ is scheduled to open in Lucknow for the academic year 2025-26. Over the next three years, a minimum of 20 such K-12 schools will be established in major metropolitan areas of India, as well as in Tier II to IV cities.
Notably, 30% of seats in the CBSE curriculum at these schools will be allocated free of charge to underserved and deserving children, the statement highlighted.
By utilizing the Adani Group’s extensive infrastructure and nationwide presence, alongside GEMS’ educational expertise, the partnership aims to create a scalable, affordable, and sustainable model for delivering quality education to students throughout India.
“This initiative demonstrates our dedication to making world-class education both affordable and accessible,” stated Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group. “By incorporating global best practices and innovative digital learning in our partnership with GEMS Education, we aspire to empower the next generation of change-makers to emerge as socially responsible leaders in India.”
“Our mission has consistently been to ensure quality education is reachable for every learner, irrespective of their economic circumstances,” remarked Sunny Varkey, Founder and Chairman of GEMS Education. “This collaboration with the Adani Foundation will enable us to broaden our impact, delivering our global educational expertise to learners and educators across varied regions of India.”
