JAMMU, Feb 14: In advance of the upcoming Mahashivratri Festival, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ansuya Jamwal held a detailed meeting to evaluate and bolster the district’s preparedness for the festivities.
Key events of the festival will include a ‘Jhanki’ (tableaux) procession on February 25, starting from the historic Ranbireshwar Temple. The Peer Kho Temple will be the venue for the Mahashivratri Mela from February 25 to 28, featuring a variety of spiritual and cultural activities for devotees.
The ADC highlighted the necessity of cross-departmental collaboration to ensure the festival runs smoothly. “This festival presents an opportunity to demonstrate our dedication to public service and cultural heritage,” she remarked.
The discussions covered multiple facets of the festival preparations, including traffic control, security measures, sanitation, and the provision of vital services to manage the expected influx of devotees. The ADC instructed departments to adopt best practices and stay alert to swiftly tackle any challenges that may arise.
The meeting was attended by various officials, including Assistant Commissioner General Vikas Dhar Bagati, Executive Engineers Jal Shakti Rajesh Kumar and Rashpal Singh, SP North Vivek Shekhar, DySP Traffic Anubhuti, along with other district officials and representatives from religious organizations and temple authorities.
