NEW DELHI, Dec 1: AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday criticized the BJP-led central government for its purported inaction on law and order matters, asserting that, rather than addressing criminal activities, an attack was planned against him during his November 30 padyatra in Malviya Nagar.
The BJP has not yet issued a response to these accusations.
At a press conference, Kejriwal stated, “The liquid thrown on me was not harmful, yet it could have posed a danger. This is the third incident targeting me in the last 35 days.” The former chief minister further alleged that Union Home Minister Amit Shah is signaling that complainants, instead of offenders, will face legal repercussions.
He also condemned the detention of AAP MLA Naresh Balyan, who had previously lodged a complaint regarding extortion by gangsters.
“They are focusing on apprehending our MLAs rather than the actual criminals,” the AAP leader alleged, urging the government to take action against the genuine offenders to protect the safety of Delhi residents.
In an incident on Saturday, a man splashed liquid on Kejriwal during his ‘padyatra’ in Malviya Nagar, south Delhi.
In his attacks on the BJP, the AAP leader claimed that the party is resorting to unscrupulous tactics due to its fear of suffering a third successive defeat in the upcoming Delhi assembly elections. (PTI)
