JAMMU, January 15: The Ministry of Home Affairs has granted approval for the promotion of Amit Kumar, a 2006 batch IPS officer from the former Jammu and Kashmir cadre (now part of the AGMUT Cadre). Currently serving as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Kumar will be elevated to the position of Inspector General (IG) of the NIA.
According to an order issued on January 14, 2025, Kumar is set to take over the IG role, with his tenure in accordance with the IPS Tenure Policy. The NIA has been instructed to notify the Ministry regarding the date he will assume this new position.
