LUCKNOW, Feb 9: Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav called on Sunday for the waiver of toll fees for vehicles entering Uttar Pradesh throughout the Maha Kumbh event to alleviate travel obstacles and traffic congestion.
Heavy influx of pilgrims has resulted in severe traffic jams on routes leading to Prayagraj.
In a statement posted on X, Yadav remarked, “In light of the Maha Kumbh, vehicles should be exempt from tolls in UP, which will help ease travel-related issues and minimize traffic jams. If movies can be made exempt from entertainment tax, why can’t vehicles be toll-free during the grand festival of Maha Kumbh?”
The Maha Kumbh, which began on January 13, is set to continue until February 26. (PTI)
