LUCKNOW, Feb 10: Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, criticized the Uttar Pradesh government on Monday for the severe traffic jams in Prayagraj, which he claims have resulted in a shortage of vital supplies and caused significant inconvenience for devotees attending the Maha Kumbh Mela.
“The traffic congestion in Prayagraj has left food grains, vegetables, spices, medicines, petrol, and diesel unavailable. The situation for the millions of hungry, thirsty, and exhausted devotees stuck within Prayagraj, in the Maha Kumbh area, and along the roads leading to the city is worsening by the hour. This is an alarming scenario,” Yadav expressed in a post on X.
He accompanied his statement with a video in which individuals share their experiences and highlight the chaos they are facing.
“Similar to how a command is handed over to someone else when the constitutional system fails in states, a competent individual should oversee governance amidst this disarray at the Maha Kumbh. Incompetent individuals may spread misinformation, but they cannot provide effective management,” he added.
Officials reported that by 8 am on Monday, 46.19 lakh individuals, including 10 lakh Kalpvasis, had taken a dip in the Sangam. Since the Maha Kumbh began last month, approximately 44 crore people have bathed in the Sangam. (Agencies)
