AGARTALA, Dec 21: On Saturday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the 72nd plenary session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) at Prajna Bhavan.
Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, along with the governors and chief ministers of all eight northeastern states, as well as senior officials, attended the event.
“There will be extensive discussions on the future roadmap for the region, in addition to reviewing the council’s progress this year,” Scindia informed reporters.
A delegation from the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) is expected to participate in the talks, sources indicated on Friday.
Shah arrived in Tripura on Friday to lead the 72nd plenary session of the NEC.
The council serves as the central body for the economic and social development of the northeastern region, which encompasses Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura. (PTI)
