AGARTALA, Dec 20: Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated a newly constructed residential complex for border guards at the Agartala Integrated Check Post (ICP) on Friday.
The inauguration was conducted virtually from Siliguri in West Bengal, where Shah participated in the 61st Raising Day celebration of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
The complex, spanning an area of 8,093 square feet, is set to house personnel from the Border Security Force (BSF) and Customs stationed at the ICP, as stated in a release from the Press Information Bureau (PIB).
This four-storey facility has been designed to accommodate 128 jawans, featuring separate blocks for officials. The new quarters aim to provide comfortable living conditions for those dedicated to safeguarding and protecting the international border, often in challenging situations, as highlighted in the statement.
The inauguration ceremony at Agartala ICP saw the presence of several officials, including Col GS Sandhu, project director of the Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI); A K Sharma, inspector general of BSF, Tripura Frontier; Debasish Nandi, manager of Agartala ICP; and senior immigration officer Leena Prasad.
