NEW DELHI, Feb 1: Union Home Minister Amit Shah accused the AAP of corruption and harboring illegal immigrants, claiming that a significant backlash against the party is brewing in Delhi, referring to its governance as a “3G” regime characterized by “Ghapla, Ghuspaithiyon ko panah, and Ghotala.”
Shah urged citizens to support the BJP, promising, “I will join you in taking a holy dip in the Yamuna during Chhath puja after two years.”
Speaking at a rally in the Mustafabad constituency, Shah emphasized the “3G” nature of the Aam Aadmi Party’s administration.
He explained, “The first ‘G’ signifies ‘ghotale wali sarkar’ (a government rife with scams), the second ‘G’ stands for ‘Ghuspaithiyon ko panah dene wali sarkar’ (a government that provides refuge to intruders), and the third ‘G’ indicates ‘ghaple karne wali sarakar’ (a government engaged in corruption),” subtly alluding to the issue of illegal immigrants in the capital.
With just four days until the February 5 assembly elections, he aimed to leverage the proposals made by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Union Budget 2025-26, asserting, “Prime Minister Modi has brought joy to ‘purvanchalis’ through this budget.”
“The budget allocates substantial funds for Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, and exempts the middle class from taxes if they earn up to Rs 12 lakh annually,” asserted the Home Minister.
Shah highlighted that all gig workers, including those associated with Swiggy and similar delivery jobs, would now register on the e-Shram portal and receive free medical care, referencing the social security measures introduced in the recent budget.
He claimed that a substantial “wave” against the AAP is evident in these elections, and its leaders are acutely aware of this sentiment.
“People will clean out the AAP with a ‘jhadoo’ (broom, which is also the party’s symbol) this time… They recognize the state of the ‘3G’ government in Delhi,” he commented at the gathering.
The senior BJP leader was rallying support for the party’s candidate, Mohan Singh Bisht, for the Mustafabad assembly seat.
Shah accused AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal of failing to deliver on his promises to the public.
“The AAP is a party that deceives and makes unfulfilled promises. In contrast, the BJP and our leader, Modi ji, take action on their commitments,” he stated.
He urged the public to rid Delhi of the “AAP-da” (disaster), along with the liquor mafia and scams, while reinforcing the need to eradicate ‘kattar beimaans’ (extremely dishonest individuals), as he called for a vote for the BJP to foster development in the city.
“Don’t become complacent, or else those responsible for the Delhi riots could return to power… You must choose between those who instigated the riots and those who protected the city,” the Home Minister advised.
Later, Shah conducted a roadshow in Rohtash Nagar and addressed a gathering in Karawal Nagar, advocating for BJP candidates Jitendra Mahajan and Kapil Mishra in these assembly seats.
At the Karawal Nagar gathering, Shah accused Kejriwal of having “betrayed” the ‘purvanchalis’ and the residents of Uttarakhand in Delhi by failing to fulfill his promise to clean the Yamuna river.
“He proclaimed he would cleanse the Yamuna, yet he made no efforts, and prevented us from initiating any cleaning measures. The Yamuna remains heavily polluted. If you elect a BJP government, I will join you in taking a holy dip in the Yamuna during Chhath puja after two years,” he vowed.
Shah also attacked Kejriwal over the ‘Sheesh Mahal’ scandal and other alleged corruptions during AAP’s governance, predicting that the BJP candidate would defeat him in the New Delhi assembly seat.
“Your time for deceit is over, Kejriwal ji. The AAP-da is poised for ousting on February 8,” he concluded. (PTI)
