NEW DELHI, Feb 11: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, presided over a series of high-level meetings in New Delhi to assess the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. These discussions were a follow-up to similar meetings held with the Indian Army and J&K Police on February 4th and 5th, 2025. The meetings saw participation from the Union Home Secretary, the Director of the Intelligence Bureau, and the Directors General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Border Security Force (BSF), along with other senior officials.
During the meetings, Amit Shah reaffirmed the Central government’s commitment under Prime Minister Narendra Modi to achieving a ‘Terror-free Jammu & Kashmir’. He highlighted the essential role of paramilitary forces in this objective and instructed the BSF to implement stringent measures to eliminate infiltration from international borders through enhanced vigilance, strengthening border infrastructure, and leveraging advanced surveillance technologies.
Additionally, Shah urged the CRPF to maintain collaboration with the Indian Army and J&K Police. He examined the winter action plan of the CRPF, instructing them to eliminate any gaps in area control, particularly focusing on dominating strategic heights in the Jammu region.
The Home Minister also evaluated the intelligence framework operating in Jammu and Kashmir, directing a boost in coverage and effectiveness to enhance the quality of intelligence gathered. He stressed the significance of technology in intelligence operations and outlined priorities for the Modi government, including monitoring terror financing, addressing narco-terrorism, and dismantling the overall terror infrastructure in Jammu & Kashmir under the ‘Zero Terror Plan’.
Furthermore, Amit Shah called for efforts to counteract negative narratives propagated by anti-national elements to ensure accurate information reaches the public. He directed that all agencies continue their collaborative efforts and embrace technology while enhancing intelligence capabilities.
Shah urged all security agencies to stay vigilant and work in a coordinated manner to eradicate terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, assuring that necessary resources would be made available to support these efforts.
