NEW DELHI, Feb 21: Union Home Minister Amit Shah highlighted the importance of uplifting and empowering the tribal communities, emphasizing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has granted them the recognition they deserve.
During an interaction with students from rural and tribal areas at Santokba Dholakiya Vidya Mandir in Gujarat’s Dang district, Shah addressed the challenges faced by tribal students in fields like medicine and engineering due to language barriers.
He noted that to overcome this issue, the Modi government has introduced the option for students to take their exams in their native languages.
“The upliftment and empowerment of the tribal community is our priority, with Prime Minister Modi providing the rightful acknowledgment to them since Independence,” he stated.
This dialogue aimed to motivate students and answer their academic and career-related questions. Shah’s initiative reflects his commitment to engage directly with young people and inspire them, according to an official release.
The event not only sought to inspire the rural and tribal students but also offered them a platform to interact openly with the Home Minister of the country.
Shah shared insights on education, youth empowerment, and the significance of student contributions to national development during the session.
While responding to students’ inquiries, he stressed the significance of hard work, commitment, and resilience.
Events like ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Divas’ and the election of Droupadi Murmu as President of India have greatly elevated the pride of the tribal community, according to Shah.
He described students as the cornerstone of the nation’s progress, asserting that their hard work and dedication would elevate India’s standing globally.
Shah encouraged students to aspire to careers in fields like medicine, engineering, and civil services, mentioning that if they aim for national development, their personal success will follow.
He emphasized that their main focus should be on contributing to the nation’s advancement.
The Home Minister informed that the Modi government is committed to enhancing educational opportunities for tribal students by establishing Eklavya Model Residential Schools in every block with over 50% Scheduled Tribe population, where at least 20,000 tribals reside.
He noted that such decisions have instilled new hope among tribal students.
Furthermore, he pointed out that while there was only one central tribal university in India in the six decades post-Independence, under the Modi administration, two new tribal universities have been set up in the last ten years.
In closing the program, Shah urged students to pursue their ambitions with diligence and integrity, highlighting that their role in nation-building is crucial, and their achievements will significantly contribute to India becoming a leading nation. (PTI)
