NEW DELHI, Mar 2: On Monday, Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah is set to inaugurate a workshop focused on sustainability and circularity within the dairy sector.
During the event, multiple memorandums of understanding (MOUs) will be signed to facilitate the establishment of biogas plants in various states.
Officials are expected to unveil comprehensive guidelines aimed at fostering environmentally sustainable dairy farming practices, alongside announcing new financing initiatives under the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and NABARD’s Large Scale Biogas projects as well as the Sustain Plus Project.
This workshop aims to spotlight policies from both the Ministry of Cooperation and the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying that encourage sustainable dairy farming, ensuring a balance between economic development and environmental accountability, according to an official statement.
The central theme will revolve around circularity, an economic principle centered on reusing, regenerating, and recycling resources. Technical sessions will delve into sustainable manure management techniques that transform dairy waste into biogas, compressed biogas (CBG), and organic fertilizers.
Experts from NDDB, industry representatives, and global organizations will convene to discuss the expansion of circular dairy practices, financing alternatives, opportunities for carbon credits, waste-to-energy strategies, and the role of technology in enhancing dairy farming efficiency.
Attendees will include Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Ministers of State SP Singh Baghel and George Kurian, Dairy and Animal Husbandry Department Secretary Alka Upadhyaya, along with other senior officials. (PTI)
