New Delhi, Feb 5: Union Home Minister Amit Shah convened two high-level meetings within two days to assess the security landscape in Jammu and Kashmir, issuing a directive for all security agencies to intensify efforts against terrorism with the aim of achieving ‘zero infiltration’.
During these meetings, Shah emphasized that the terrorist ecosystem in the Union Territory has been significantly weakened through the ongoing and coordinated initiatives of the Narendra Modi government.
As per an official statement, the home minister instructed all security agencies to elevate their counter-terrorism operations and work towards completely eliminating the presence of terrorists.
“Our objective should be to eradicate terrorism entirely,” he asserted.
Shah reiterated the government’s commitment to wiping out terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, stressing the need to combat terror funding linked to the narcotics trade with urgency and thoroughness.
In these consecutive meetings held on Tuesday and Wednesday, Shah reviewed the security situation with top officials from the Army, police, paramilitary forces, and others. This marks the first time the home minister has held such in-depth discussions on Jammu and Kashmir’s security over two successive days.
Attendees included Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, DGP Nalin Prabhat, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, along with senior officials from the army, police, and civil administrations.
These discussions were prompted by a recent terror attack in Kulgam district, South Kashmir, which resulted in the death of ex-serviceman Manzoor Ahmad Wagay and injuries to his wife and niece. (Agencies)
