Anantnag, Feb 20: On Thursday, the Anantnag Police in Jammu and Kashmir announced the attachment of a double-storey under-construction residential property, associating it with proceeds from drug trafficking.
According to a notice issued by the Anantnag Police and affixed to the building, the property is owned by Abdul Majeed Bhat, a resident of Cheenigund, Srigufwara.
Covering an area of one Kanal and valued at Rs 1 crore, the asset has been attached under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the Kashmir Police stated in a release.
The individual is implicated in a significant narcotics case, recorded under FIR No. 68/2021 at Police Station Srigufwara, in which a “substantial quantity of contraband substances was seized,” the press statement noted.
This initiative underscores the Anantnag Police’s strong determination to tackle the drug crisis and dismantle the financial frameworks that support the illegal drug trade. Through rigorous actions, police aim to deter criminal endeavors and protect the community from the severe repercussions of drug misuse.
