He led discussions aimed at improving joint operational capabilities, which included senior officers from the Army, Indian Air Force, Navy, and the ITBP during his visit to the Northern Command, according to the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) of the Indian Army on X.
Officials indicated that Gen Dwivedi first visited the Command Headquarters in Udhampur before proceeding to Ladakh, where he presided over a meeting with the officers.
During his visit, Gen Dwivedi also inspected the latest state-of-the-art weapons, equipment, and logistical assets. He praised the personnel of Northern Command for their professionalism and the initiatives taken to enhance operational synergy.
While at Northern Command Headquarters, the Army chief recognized Brigadier (Retd) Harcharan Singh, Havildar (Retd) Khajur Singh, and Naik (Retd) Mohammed Aslam Bhat with the ‘Veterans Achievers Award’.
Brigadier (Retd) Singh has devoted his retirement to significantly impacting veterans’ lives, including the organization of veterans’ records with the Sainik Welfare Board to ensure benefits reach those in need. He also plays a key role in the ‘NAMAN’ project, which assists Veer-Naris and their families, offering them free legal aid and support for disabled soldiers through the War Wounded Foundation NGO.
The ADGPI noted that Havildar (Retd) Khajur Singh has shown steadfast commitment to reforestation and women’s empowerment since retiring. In 2016, he established the Sanjeevani Jan Kalyan Seva Samiti, an NGO that has planted over 100,000 trees in J&K and provides self-defense training for schoolgirls, fostering positive community change.
Additionally, Naik (Retd) Bhat has pioneered kiwi cultivation in Chenani tehsil, transforming previously barren land into thriving orchards. He has introduced modern agricultural techniques and supports fellow veterans in exploring agriculture as a viable post-service career, thereby contributing to economic growth and a sustainable income source for many veterans.
