New Delhi, Dec 29: Despite facing domestic economic challenges, the Pakistan Army continues to support terrorist operations, with reports indicating that 60 percent of the terrorists eliminated in Jammu and Kashmir this year have been nationals from Pakistan.
Local recruitment into Pakistan-based terrorist groups remains significantly low, with only four locals joining these factions this year, according to Army officials.
Through various encounters and operations, security forces have successfully neutralized around 75 terrorists across different regions, including the Jammu region and the Kashmir valley, alongside firefights that occurred during infiltration attempts at the Line of Control, they noted.
Pakistan has long been recognized as a major hub for the export of terrorism, primarily targeting India.
Over the past year, Islamabad has intensified efforts to propagate terrorism in the Jammu region, including districts like Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, Kishtwar, Kathua, and Reasi, but these efforts have been curtailed by the additional deployment of troops and the refilling of gaps left by the withdrawal of the Rashtriya Rifles for duties at the China border.
Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi and Northern Army Commander Lt Gen MV Suchendra Kumar have prioritized the eradication of terrorists in regions managed by the White Knight Corps. (Agencies)
