SRINAGAR, Mar 5: An army soldier succumbed to firearm wounds inflicted by his service rifle at a forward post in the Kamalkote sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials reported on Wednesday.
Naik B T Rao (25), originally from Andhra Pradesh, passed away on Tuesday.
The shot was discharged from the service weapon of the deceased soldier, they noted, emphasizing that the specific details surrounding his death were under investigation.
Preliminary assessments suggested it might be a case of suicide.
However, officials from the Srinagar defense sector refrained from commenting on the incident. (Agencies)
