New Delhi, Feb 22: On Saturday, BJP MLA Ashish Sood officially took over as Delhi’s Home Minister and held his inaugural meeting with department officials. The first-time MLA representing Janakpuri, Sood is recognized as a notable Punjabi figure in Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s Cabinet. Upon assuming office, he posted on X, stating, “I have taken office as Home Minister of Delhi and conducted my first crucial meeting with department officials.” The discussions centered around enhancing law and order in the capital and boosting administrative efficiency, according to Sood. “I will ensure that the Home Department functions with complete transparency and commitment,” he assured. In addition to overseeing the Home Department, Sood has also been given charge of portfolios including power, urban development, education, higher education, training, and technical education.
Regarding his priorities, Sood noted, “We will focus on law and order, disaster management, traffic systems, and related issues. Our aim is to transform Delhi into a city where every citizen can live with dignity and pride.” He reiterated the government’s commitment to fulfilling the promises made to the public. Furthermore, he referenced a recent meeting chaired by the Delhi Chief Minister with members of the Delhi Jal Board, highlighting discussions that revolved around ensuring a consistent supply of clean water to residents of the capital.
