GUWAHATI, Dec 25: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday inaugurated a statue honoring former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the state capital, commemorating his 100th birth anniversary.
In conjunction with the statue, Sarma also opened an exhibition that celebrates Vajpayee’s life and achievements at the Atal Udyan complex in Adabari.
During his address, Sarma emphasized Vajpayee’s significant contributions as a three-time Prime Minister, his role as a proponent of peace, and his dedication to India’s unity.
“A poet, an exceptional orator, and a beacon for the nation, Atal ji established the groundwork for a robust India and held a deep affection for Assam and its people,” he remarked.
Sarma underscored that Vajpayee’s lasting legacy will continue to inspire Assam’s advancement and prosperity.
Earlier that day, Sarma took part in the ‘Good Governance Day’ events at the BJP headquarters here. (PTI)
