MUMBAI, Feb 26: Union Minister Ramdas Athawale expressed on Wednesday that Uddhav Thackeray, the chief of Shiv Sena (UBT), and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi have “disrespected” the Hindu community by failing to attend the Maha Kumbh, urging Hindu voters to boycott them.
Athawale, a notable Dalit leader from Maharashtra and ally of the BJP, pointed out that Thackeray, who often discusses Hindutva, did not take part in the ongoing Kumbh Mela at Prayagraj.
“By not attending the Maha Kumbh, Thackeray and the Gandhi family have offended Hindutva. It is a disservice to the Hindu community not to participate in this significant event, and I call upon Hindus to boycott them,” he stated in an interview with PTI Videos.
He emphasized the importance of participating in the Maha Kumbh in light of public sentiment and noted, “They consistently seek Hindu votes, yet they neglected this crucial event. Hindu voters should certainly boycott them,” Athawale added.
He further mentioned that in the recent elections, Hindu voters taught these leaders a lesson, referencing the Maharashtra assembly elections held in November 2024.
The 45-day Maha Kumbh at Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj will conclude on Mahashivratri. (PTI)
