MELBOURNE, Dec 30: Australia secured a victory over India by 184 runs in the fourth Test, taking a 2-1 lead in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
In pursuit of a 340-run target, India was all out for 155 in 79.1 overs on the final day.
Yashasvi Jaiswal (84 off 208) put up a valiant effort for India, marking his second half-century of the match.
Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant (30 off 104) managed to occupy the crease throughout the entire second session, bringing the score to 112/3, but Pant’s dismissal marked a turning point for the Australian side.
Australia’s captain, Pat Cummins, was the standout bowler, claiming three wickets in an impressive showing of fast bowling.
After starting the day at 228 for 9, Australia was bowled out for 234.
Jasprit Bumrah, India’s leading pacer, led the attack with a five-wicket haul, finishing with figures of 5/57.
