Sydney, Jan 3 (PTI) – Australia finished the first day of the fifth and final Test at nine for one, after bowling India out for 185.
India made a brief recovery from 57 for 3 to 107 for 4 at tea, but lost their last six wickets for just 78 runs in the final session.
Rishabh Pant was the top scorer for India with 40 runs from 98 balls, while Scott Boland was the standout bowler for Australia, claiming 4 wickets for 31 runs.
In their response, Australia ended the day at nine for one after Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Usman Khawaja with the last ball of the day.
Rohit Sharma, India’s captain, opted to rest himself for the series finale, with Bumrah taking his place for the toss.
India trails the five-match series 1-2.
