NEW DELHI, Feb 2: The revered gates of the Badrinath temple, located in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, are set to welcome devotees at 6 am on May 4.
The timing for the temple’s opening was determined during special prayers held at the former Tehri royal court in Narendra Nagar on the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami.
Following the Ganesh Panchang and Chowki pujan, royal priest Acharya Krishna Prasad Uniyal announced the date for the temple’s reopening.
Attendees included the former Maharaja of Tehri, Manvendra Shah, alongside his wife and daughter Shreejaand, Tehri Lok Sabha member Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, Badrinath’s chief priest Rawal Amarnath Namboodri, the chief executive officer of the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee, Vijay Thapliyal, and numerous religious leaders.
Each year after Diwali, the doors to the Char Dhams—Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri—are closed to devotees, reopening the following April-May.
During the six-month pilgrimage season, countless devotees from across India and beyond visit the Char Dhams. (Agencies)
