The party has also appointed Sanjay Bhatia, a former MP from Haryana, as the organizational election in-charge for the Jammu & Kashmir UT. Additionally, Jairam Thakur, the former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and current Opposition Leader in the HP Assembly, will oversee the elections for Ladakh UT.
These appointments were confirmed by the party’s high command in New Delhi today.
The three senior BJP leaders are responsible for managing the elections of State/UT presidents and National Assembly members—vital components of the BJP’s organizational structure, according to party officials.
The party’s constitution stipulates that elections in at least 50% of the States/UTs should be conducted before the national president is elected, with a deadline set for January 15, 2025.
