LEH, Dec 30: The Secretary for RDD/IT, Shashanka Ala, met with the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) today.
During the meeting, Shashanka Ala informed the LG about various matters, including the delayed implementation of the 4G saturation project in UT Ladakh by BSNL; the upcoming Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the IT Department, LAHDC Leh, and Siemens to establish a Centre of Excellence aimed at skill development for the youth of Ladakh, as well as the associated finances; the proposal for constructing a winter-friendly community hall in Zanskar through the Public Works Department (PWD); and the students’ request for setting up digital libraries in public libraries across various locations in Ladakh.
The LG instructed the Secretary to initiate measures to blacklist the agencies involved in the 4G saturation project in Ladakh. Additionally, he requested that she communicate with all Heads of Departments (HoDs) to avoid any unnecessary hidden expenses on the Ladakh exchequer.
Furthermore, he asked her to collaborate on the digital library proposal for the benefit of students, so it can be submitted to the UT Administration for consideration. The LG also suggested appointing two local teachers to oversee the public library.
