AGRA (UP), Dec 3: A regional office of Uttar Pradesh Tourism received an email on Tuesday that threatened to detonate a bomb at the Taj Mahal; however, authorities determined it to be a hoax, according to a police spokesperson.
In response, a bomb disposal unit, canine unit, and other security teams were deployed to the site, but no suspicious items were discovered, reported ACP Sayed Areeb Ahmad, who is responsible for the Taj Mahal’s security.
“The Uttar Pradesh Tourism office received an email making threats against the Taj Mahal. After an extensive search, we found nothing that corroborated the email’s claims. The bomb disposal and dog squads were dispatched to ensure safety,” he explained.
As stated by Deepti Vatsa, deputy director of Uttar Pradesh Tourism, the bomb threat email was promptly forwarded to the Agra Police and the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for further action. (Agencies)
