JAMMU, Mar 3: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly convened today for its Budget Session and extended heartfelt tributes to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, along with other parliamentarians and legislators who have passed away since the previous session.
During the tribute references, the Speaker honored Dr. Manmohan Singh for his significant contributions to the country’s economy, remembering him as a distinguished statesman whose legacy will be cherished.
The Speaker also acknowledged the contributions of former MP and Minister Syed Ghulam Hussain Geelani, as well as former MLAs Ghulam Hassan Parrey and Choudhary Paira Singh.
In addition, MLAs Mubarak Gul, Sham Lal Sharma, Dr. Narinder Singh, Dr. Bashir Ahmad Shah Veeri, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, Mohmmad Yousuf Tarigami, Abdul Majeed Larmi, Mohd Rafiq Naikoo, Vikram Randhawa, Nizamuddin Bhat, Satish Kumar Sharma, and Iftikhar Ahmed joined in expressing their condolences to Dr. Manmohan Singh and the other departed legislators since the last session.
The Speaker and members of the assembly also observed a two-minute silence in their honor.
