NEW DELHI, Feb 25: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the approval of draft regulations for conducting Class-10 board examinations twice a year, starting in 2026, as confirmed by officials.
The draft guidelines will be made available to the public, allowing stakeholders to provide their feedback until March 9. Following this period, the final policy will be established.
According to the proposed schedule, the first set of examinations is set to take place from February 17 to March 6, while the second set is scheduled for May 5 to 20.
“Both examination sessions will cover the entire syllabus, and students will have the same testing centers for both occasions. Additionally, examination fees will be increased and gathered at the time of application submission,” stated a senior official from the board.
“The first and second sessions of the board exams will also serve as supplementary assessments, meaning no special examinations will be arranged under any circumstances,” the official added.
The newly introduced National Education Policy (NEP) has suggested that to mitigate the “high stakes” nature of board exams, students will be permitted to attempt the exams up to two times within the same academic year.
