- ITMS aims to improve urban governance through data-driven insights: Dr. Owais
SRINAGAR, Dec 19: In a landmark initiative to advance urban management, Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL) has launched the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) via its Integrated Command & Control Centre (ICCC) situated at HMT Zainakote.
The inauguration was officiated by Dr. Owais Ahmed, CEO of SSCL, focusing on enhancing city governance by utilizing data-driven decision-making in everyday operations and crisis management.
The ICCC serves as a central hub that integrates various applications and services across multiple departments and agencies. It offers vital infrastructure, including computing resources, storage, networking, and security, to support Smart City projects, operating around the clock.
Notable features of the ICCC consist of a Data Centre with a secure server farm that provides 2PB of storage, hybrid cloud capabilities, dedicated leased lines, and a NOVAC fire suppression system.
The Network Operations Centre, equipped with a video wall and workstations, ensures ongoing surveillance for optimal performance.
A computational framework integrates applications that provide secure access, work distribution, and KPI tracking.
Other amenities include a convention centre, war room, multi-communications hub, and a robust power infrastructure designed with fail-safe measures.
The ITMS represents a state-of-the-art solution for enhancing traffic regulation and enforcement in the city. Cameras have been strategically placed at 66 critical junctions, monitored from the ICCC and the Office of the SSP, Traffic Police Srinagar.
The key features and advantages of the ITMS for Traffic Enforcement include Red Light Violation Detection (RLVD), Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), helmet and seat belt compliance checks, and monitoring for speeding and wrong-way driving.
This advanced technology employs 1,052 cameras in total, comprising RLVD (249), ANPR (453), PTZ (101), and box cameras (249), ensuring comprehensive surveillance coverage.
Additionally, the system enhances safety through an e-challan system, panic button features, and connectivity via SDNet.
Srinagar Smart City Limited is dedicated to harnessing innovative technologies to foster a safer, smarter, and more efficient urban environment, setting a precedent for other cities across India.
