SRINAGAR, Feb 5: The President of BJP Jammu and Kashmir, Sat Sharma, stated on Wednesday that certain groups in the Union Territory are acting under the influence of Pakistan and are working to undermine peace in the area. Sharma made these remarks to the media in Srinagar after visiting the Army’s 92 Base Hospital at Badami Bagh with Leader of the Opposition in the J&K Assembly, Sunil Sharma, and former BJP J&K president Ravinder Raina. They went there to check on the condition of two women who were injured in a recent terrorist attack in Kulgam, which claimed the life of an ex-soldier. The BJP leaders then traveled to Bihibagh, Kulgam, to meet the family of the deceased soldier.
Sharma vehemently condemned the attack, asserting that some factions in Jammu and Kashmir are operating at Pakistan’s behest to disrupt regional harmony. “The martyrdom of our soldier will not be in vain. Those responsible for this terrible act will face severe consequences,” he declared.
Sunil Sharma accused the National Conference (NC) of contributing to the current turmoil in J&K. “The National Conference has played a role in creating this atmosphere. From events in 1931 to the exodus in 1989 and up until now, they are to blame for the ongoing issues,” he remarked.
The incident in question involved an ex-serviceman, Manzoor Ahmad Wagay, who had retired in 2021. He, along with his wife and niece, was shot by unidentified gunmen in Kulgam. The victims were taken to the hospital, where Wagay unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
