SRINAGAR, Dec 2: Today, Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly (JKLA), Abdul Rahim Rather, presided over an introductory meeting at the Legislative Assembly Complex to evaluate its operations.
The meeting saw attendance from Secretary JKLA, Manoj Kumar Pandita, along with other senior officials and Assembly Secretariat staff.
During the session, the Speaker conducted a thorough assessment of several urgent matters concerning the Assembly Secretariat, which included infrastructural enhancement and various factors that contribute to its efficient operation.
Engaging with the staff, the Speaker emphasized the necessity of a collaborative and supportive work environment for the smooth operation of this vital institution. He remarked that the effectiveness of the legislative secretariat is significantly dependent on the dedication and assistance of its personnel.
Furthermore, the Speaker urged all officers and staff to engage with sincerity and dedication, highlighting the institution’s crucial role in maintaining the democratic principles of our nation.
Staff members also took the opportunity to voice their concerns and propose ideas for improving the Assembly’s operations.
The Speaker assured them that their issues would be seriously considered, and appropriate measures would be implemented to address them.
The meeting also included updates from the Secretary of the Legislative Assembly, who informed the Speaker about the progress of various ongoing initiatives, such as the National E-Vidhan Project (NeVa), the development of Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business for JKLA, and preparations for the upcoming Budget session of the Assembly.
Additionally, the Secretary reported that promotions at various levels within the Assembly Secretariat have been delayed for an extended period and emphasized the need to prioritize these promotions to enhance employee morale.
The Speaker committed to addressing all employee-related concerns as soon as possible.
