NEW DELHI, Feb 8: The Rashtrapati Bhavan announced on Saturday that the change of guard ceremony will introduce a new format with an expanded seating capacity.
In this revamped ceremony, attendees can enjoy a vibrant visual and musical performance set against the stunning backdrop of the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The event will feature formal military drills performed by the President’s Bodyguard and the Ceremonial Guard Battalion, accompanied by the Ceremonial Military Brass Band, as detailed in the statement from Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Starting February 22, the change of guard ceremony will occur in this new format.
President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to attend the inaugural performance on February 16, according to the release.
This weekly tradition is a military ritual that allows a new group of the President’s Bodyguards to assume their duties.
Established in 1773, the President’s Bodyguard (PBG) is the oldest regiment of the Indian Army, responsible for ceremonial duties. Members of the PBG are skilled horse riders, proficient tank operators, and paratroopers. (PTI)
