JAMMU, Jan 1: In a bid to enhance the care and protection of children living in various Child Care Institutions across the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Chief Justice Tashi Rabstan of the High Court and Patron-in-Chief of the J&K Legal Services Authority, visited Muskan, Home for Children in Channi Rama today. Accompanying him were Amit Kumar Gupta, Member Secretary of the J&K Legal Services Authority, and Ansuya Jamwal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Jammu, who also serves as the Executive Secretary of the District Red Cross Society, Jammu.
During the visit, Chief Justice Rabstan engaged with the children, distributing sweets and gifts, and taking the time to understand their living conditions and individual needs.
He also met with the staff of the Children’s Home, giving directions for improvements in the amenities and services available to the residents. Emphasizing the necessity of a nurturing environment, he stressed the importance of supporting the holistic development of the children.
The ADC of Jammu assured the Chief Justice that the proposed enhancements would be implemented swiftly, and detailed the existing services at the Home, which include regular medical check-ups, special education classes through the Samagra Shiksha initiative, and physical and motor development activities organized by the Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Jammu.
Furthermore, weekly visits from physiotherapists and psychologists are arranged to promote the mental and physical health of the children, indicating a well-rounded approach to their care and development.
The Chief Justice praised the administration and staff for their dedication to the children’s welfare. He acknowledged their efforts to rectify any shortcomings and urged them to continue working to uphold the dignity and rights of the children living in the facility.
This visit highlights the commitment of the judiciary and the J&K Legal Services Authority to protect and promote the well-being of vulnerable groups in society, ensuring their needs are addressed with empathy and care.
