JAMMU, JAN 1: In an effort to improve the care and protection of children living in various Child Care Institutions throughout the Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh, Chief Justice of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh and Patron-in-Chief of the J&K Legal Services Authority, Tashi Rabstan, along with Amit Kumar Gupta, Member Secretary of the J&K Legal Services Authority, and Ansuya Jamwal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Jammu, who also acts as Executive Secretary of the District Red Cross Society, Jammu, visited Muskan, Home for Children in Channi Rama, Jammu.
During the visit, the Chief Justice engaged with the children, generously distributing sweets and gifts. This interaction allowed for a closer look at the children’s living conditions and their specific needs.
Chief Justice Tashi spoke with the staff members at the Children Home, providing directions to enhance the amenities and facilities available to the inmates. He stressed the significance of nurturing and supportive environments to facilitate the holistic development of the children.
The ADC Jammu reassured the Chief Justice that the proposed improvements would be acted upon promptly. She outlined the current amenities offered at the Children Home, including regular medical check-ups, special education classes under the Samagra Shiksha initiative, and physical and motor development activities organized by the Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Jammu. Furthermore, weekly visits by physiotherapists and psychologists are arranged to ensure the mental and physical well-being of the children, showcasing a comprehensive approach to their care and development.
The Chief Justice praised the administration and staff for their dedication to the welfare of the children. He acknowledged their proactive approach in addressing any deficiencies and urged for persistent efforts to uphold the dignity and rights of the children residing there.
This visit highlights the judiciary’s and the J&K Legal Services Authority’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare of vulnerable members of society, ensuring that their needs are addressed with compassion and care.
