ANANTNAG, Dec 5: Tashi Rabstan, the Chief Justice of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh, along with Justice Vinod Chatterjee Koul, Judge of the High Court and Administrative Judge for the Anantnag district, visited Anantnag today to lay the foundation stone for the proposed new court building.
This event marks a significant advancement in improving judicial infrastructure, aiming to facilitate more efficient access to justice.
Dignitaries present included Shahzad Azeem, Registrar General, High Court of J&K and Ladakh; Tahir Khurshid Raina, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Anantnag; Masarat Roohi, Additional District & Sessions Judge Anantnag; Syed Fakhrud Din Hamid, DC Anantnag; G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, SSP Anantnag; Manzoor Ahmad Khan, Designated Judge for NIA/Special Court Anantnag; Feroz Ahmad Khan, Chief Judicial Magistrate Anantnag; Muzamil Ahmad Wani, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Anantnag; Showkat Ali Lone, President of District Bar Association Anantnag; along with other judicial officials, senior Bar members, and district administration representatives.
During his address, the Chief Justice emphasized the judiciary’s essential role in maintaining the rule of law and protecting the rights of individuals. He highlighted the importance of an efficient judicial system bolstered by contemporary infrastructure in delivering timely justice.
He commended the collaborative efforts of the local judiciary, administration, and Bar in bringing this project to fruition and reiterated the judiciary’s commitment to serving the populace while expressing confidence that the new court complex would enhance the justice delivery mechanism in the district.
In his welcoming remarks, Tahir Khurshid Raina, Principal District & Sessions Judge Anantnag expressed optimism that the new facility would stand as a symbol of justice and address the current infrastructural challenges faced by the judiciary in Anantnag. He acknowledged the joint efforts between the judiciary, Bar, and administration to make this vital project a reality, describing it as a step towards improved service.
Justice Vinod Chatterjee Koul praised the initiatives taken to improve legal infrastructure in Anantnag, emphasizing the necessity of such projects in instilling public confidence in justice.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Showkat Ali Lone, President of District Bar Association Anantnag, who expressed sincere gratitude to the Chief Justice and other distinguished guests for their ongoing support in fortifying the legal framework in the region.
Muzamil Ahmad Wani, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Anantnag, moderated the program.
