New Delhi, Jan 1: Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna will serve as the chief guest at the inaugural Lokpal Day event set for January 16, as announced in an official statement on Wednesday.
During its meeting on March 14, 2024, the Lokpal of India decided that January 16 each year will be recognized as “Lokpal Day,” the statement indicated.
“The first celebration of Lokpal Day will take place on January 16, 2025, with Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna as the chief guest at Zorawar Auditorium, Manekshaw Centre,” the Lokpal statement noted.
The event will feature CJI Khanna addressing attendees about the responsibilities and functions of the ombudsman and discussing future directions, along with the honoring of Attorney General of India R Venkatramani, former Supreme Court Judge Justice N Santosh Hegde, and Padma Bhushan Anna Hazare.
The program is expected to commence around 6 PM with the arrival of the CJI, Supreme Court judges, chief justices, and judges from various high courts, executive chairpersons, and members of the legal services authority, as well as Lokayuktas and Upalokayuktas from the states, secretaries of the Government of India, heads of investigative agencies, and law officers, among others.
