JAMMU, Dec 17: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah officially inaugurated the MRI and CT Scan Center at the Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission (SVMM) Charitable Hospital located in Ambphalla, Jammu. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Member of Legislative Assembly (Udhampur East) Pawan Gupta, President of SVMM Charitable Hospital Anil Gupta, Patron Dr. Subash Gupta, and President of the Jammu Chamber of Commerce & Industry Arun Gupta, alongside members of the hospital’s managing committee, faculty, staff, and other guests.
During his address at the opening ceremony, the Chief Minister praised the hospital for its outstanding services to the community.
He emphasized that institutions like SVMM Charitable Hospital embody the essence of service by offering accessible and high-quality healthcare.
“The hospital provides services comparable to those of private sectors while maintaining lower costs, even below those of government facilities,” said Omar Abdullah.
Reflecting on the hospital’s remarkable progress from a modest single-room dispensary to a respected healthcare institution, he stated, “This transformation is truly noteworthy and deserves recognition.”
The Chief Minister also commended the hospital’s neonatal unit, noting with pride that the ICU has achieved a remarkable 100 percent recovery rate for infants.
“This accomplishment is not only reassuring for the hospital but also for the parents whose children are under care here,” he added.
During his visit, the Chief Minister toured the hospital, examining various departments and engaging with faculty members and patients to gain insight into their experiences and concerns.
Highlighting the importance of humanitarian service, Omar Abdullah stated, “To serve God, we must serve humanity.”
The Chief Minister reaffirmed his government’s commitment to supporting the hospital and promised continued assistance from his administration and cabinet colleagues to enhance its healthcare initiatives.
