- Encourages community involvement to maintain cleanliness
JAMMU, Dec 18: Commissioner of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Dr. Devansh Yadav embarked on a swift inspection of the Jammu South region to evaluate the developmental and sanitation initiatives undertaken by the JMC.
During his visit, the Commissioner toured various locations, including Trikuta Nagar and Khorana Marble Chowk, to review the condition of roads, lanes, drainage systems, and waste management efforts.

In Trikuta Nagar (Ward No. 52), the Commissioner initiated his assessment by investigating the state of local lanes and drainage facilities. He voiced his concerns over the blocked drains and instructed the relevant authorities to prioritize their cleaning to allow for unobstructed water flow. He stressed the necessity of a well-maintained drainage system to avert waterlogging and ensure residents’ safety and comfort. He also warned local residents about the detrimental effects of washing vehicles on paved roads, urging them to desist as it causes major damage to the road surfaces. “Potholes in drains should be promptly filled to prevent traffic disruptions and facilitate smooth vehicle movement,” he stated.
At Khorana Marble Chowk, Dr. Yadav continued to examine the drainage systems. He ordered the responsible departments to remove debris and waste from deep drains and carry out essential construction work to restore their functionality.
Stressing the significance of community engagement, the Commissioner appealed to residents to take an active role in keeping their surroundings tidy and to work alongside municipal authorities to enhance the infrastructure and sanitation in Jammu South.
Addressing local residents’ requests regarding lane and drain construction, particularly in areas with inadequate or deteriorating infrastructure, the Commissioner assured them that their concerns would be addressed and appropriate measures taken as soon as possible.
Accompanying the Commissioner during the inspection were Deputy Commissioner (South) Lal Chand, Secretary Chand Singh, Joint Commissioner (W) Firdous Ahmad Qazi, Health Officer Dr. Vinod Sharma, MVO Dr. Divya Sharma, AFO Rabia Khan, Executive Engineer Lokesh Gupta, Executive Engineer (E) Simarpal Singh, and other senior officials of the Jammu Municipal Corporation.
