JAMMU, Dec 21: Commissioner of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Dr. Devansh Yadav, carried out a comprehensive inspection of various locations throughout Jammu city today to assess the preparations for Christmas celebrations. The aim of his visit was to evaluate the arrangements made for Christmas Eve and to ensure that all essential civic amenities were adequately established.
During his tour, the Commissioner visited several churches, including well-known establishments like St. Mary’s Church at Valmiki Chowk, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, St. John’s Catholic Church in Bakshi Nagar, Joseph Colony and Church in New Plot, St. Peter Church, and areas surrounding Christian Colony on Residency Road. He also checked multiple prominent sites expected to attract large crowds during the festive period. Additionally, he examined residential areas and marketplaces in the vicinity that typically experience high foot traffic during the celebrations.
Highlighting JMC’s proactive approach to facilitating a successful festive experience, the Commissioner assured that the civic organization has implemented all necessary measures for sanitation, street lighting, and public health. “The JMC is completely dedicated to ensuring a clean, safe, and well-illuminated environment for both residents and visitors during this significant occasion. Our teams are actively engaged in managing waste disposal, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring proper street lighting,” stated Dr. Yadav.
The Commissioner also underscored the efforts of JMC’s health and sanitation teams, who are working diligently to guarantee that all streets and public spaces are maintained and thoroughly cleaned. Special teams have been assigned to manage increased waste collection in high-traffic areas and to ensure that churches and their surroundings remain sanitary. Additionally, streetlights have been inspected and repaired as needed to provide sufficient lighting.
During the tour, the Commissioner was accompanied by Joint Commissioner (R&E) Rakesh Gupta, Health Officer Dr. Vinod Sharma, Supdt. Engineer PHE Sunil Gandotra, Ex. Engineer UEED, Yasir Bashir Kitchloo, Vijay Singh, Ex. Engineer (E) S. Simarpal Singh, along with CTOs from Zones I, II & III, Talat Mehmood Khan, S. Dharamvir Singh, and others.
