JAMMU, Dec 24: The Congress party held an “Ambedkar Samman March” today, commencing from Ambedkar Chowk towards the Divisional Commissioner’s office in Jammu. This march was conducted to demand the resignation and public apology of Home Minister Amit Shah for his recent disrespectful remarks about Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution, made in Parliament.
In response to a nationwide directive from the party, prominent Congress leaders from both the PCC and DCC, along with various organizational wings, participated in the “Ambedkar Samman March” to further their call for the Home Minister’s resignation and apology. They chanted slogans against Amit Shah while expressing support for the Congress Party and its leaders, emphasizing their commitment to persist in their demands for action against him.
The march, organized by PCC & DCC Jammu Urban, was led by Working President Raman Bhalla along with leaders such as Balwan Singh, Ravinder Sharma, Yogesh Sawhney, DCC President Manmohan Singh, Ved Mahajan, Indu Pawar, Naresh Gupta, Yash Pal Kundal, Hari Singh Chib, Rajnish Sharma (Mian), Shashi Sharma, Satish Sharma, OBC Chairman Madan Dogra, and other senior leaders who vocally demanded Amit Shah’s resignation. The peaceful protest commenced at Ambedkar Chowk/Panama Crossing in Gandhi Nagar, making its way to the Divisional Commissioner’s office.
Prior to the march, Congress leaders honored Dr. Ambedkar by garlanding his statue and raised slogans in his tribute.
The police halted the march just before reaching the Div Com office, where a representative from the administration accepted a memorandum addressed to the President of India, which called for action against Amit Shah.
Speaking to the press, Raman Bhalla reiterated the urgent need for the Home Minister to resign and apologize publicly. He stated that the entire nation is offended by Amit Shah’s derogatory comments concerning the father of the Constitution, Dr. Ambedkar, but the Prime Minister remains silent on this critical issue. Bhalla asserted that the true mindset of the BJP is revealed through Shah’s insult towards Ambedkar.
Many notable leaders joined the protest march, including Sanjeev Panda, Neeraj Gupta, Ranjit Singh Manhas Ricky Dalotra, Rajesh Sharma, Virinder Singh Manhas, Dr. R K Khajuria, Dewan Chand, Latish Sharma, Rajinder Singh Jamwal, Keval Krishan Jogi, Jugal Sharma and others.
