JAMMU, Jan 8: A delegation from the J&K Pradesh Congress Committee, led by former Minister Raman Bhalla, met with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today.
The delegation included senior Congress leaders such as Yogesh Sawhney, Ved Mahajan, Ravinder Sharma, and Rakesh Wazir, who discussed various significant public issues with the Lieutenant Governor.
They emphasized the delays in fulfilling the commitment to restore statehood, as well as the slow progress in framing business rules, which has led to administrative uncertainty and adversely affected the public.
The delegation also called for age relaxation for overage youth seeking police and other job opportunities, along with expediting the recruitment process to fill existing vacancies, considering the growing unrest among educated youth.
Additionally, the meeting brought attention to the Katra ropeway issue, urging that it be resolved through dialogue with all relevant stakeholders, taking into account aspects of religious faith, economic interests, livelihood concerns for thousands, and overall developmental factors.
Furthermore, they requested improved developmental facilities at Bhair Devsthan in Jammu.
Ajatshatru Singh, former Minister and senior BJP leader, also met with the Lieutenant Governor, accompanied by Ritu Singh.
Subsequently, Abida War, Chairperson of the J&K Solace Employees Working Women Association, and Jagmeet Kour Bali, President of the All Sikh Minority Employees Association and All Employees Joint Association Kashmir (M), also called on the Lieutenant Governor.
A newly elected delegation of office-bearers from the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, led by its President Advocate K. Nirmal Kotwal, also met with the Lieutenant Governor.
This delegation included Adv. Baldev Singh, Adv. Pardeep Majotra, Adv. Anshu Mahajan, and Adv. Rahul Aggarwal, who presented various concerns facing the legal community to the Lieutenant Governor.
Nazir Ahmad Khan, Chairman of the District Development Council Budgam, also called on the Lieutenant Governor.
The DDC Chairman submitted a memorandum of demands detailing key developmental issues in Budgam district, including the demand to stop the Vande Bharat train at Budgam Railway Station. He explained that this stoppage would significantly enhance the district’s economy by improving connectivity and attracting more tourists to famous destinations like Doodhpathri, Yusmarg, Tosamaidan, and the revered Charar-e-Sharief shrine.
Khan expressed gratitude to the Lieutenant Governor for his ongoing support for developmental projects in Budgam, particularly the construction of bridges over Nalla Sukhnag in the Beerwah constituency, which has long been a demand of the local community.
The Lieutenant Governor assured the DDC Chairman that appropriate actions would be taken to address the issues raised during their discussion.
A delegation from the Ganesh Mandir Prabandhak Samiti also met with the Lieutenant Governor to discuss developmental concerns related to Ganesh Temple, Ganpatyar, Srinagar.
Dr. Rafique Anjum, Chair Professor in Tribal Studies at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, along with Shivali Sharma, Convenor of the Press Core Council (NGO) from Rajouri, also called on the Lieutenant Governor.
