Jammu, Dec 23: On Monday, the Congress party’s Jammu and Kashmir unit once again called for the resignation and a public apology from Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding his statements about BR Ambedkar made in Parliament.
The party has scheduled an “Ambedkar Samman March” on Tuesday in Jammu to advocate for their demands.
“We are demanding Shah’s resignation along with a public apology for his comments regarding Ambedkar in Parliament. Our fight will continue,” stated Raman Bhalla, the Congress’ Jammu and Kashmir working president, during a press briefing.
This march is part of a larger nationwide protest calling for accountability from the home minister, he added.
Bhalla accused Shah of making statements that have offended national sentiments.
“The entire nation is in uproar… Even with widespread protests occurring, the prime minister remains silent. Such disparaging remarks highlight the BJP’s actual intentions and mindset. Amit Shah must resign immediately,” he asserted.
Ravinder Sharma, the party’s chief spokesperson, commented, “Instead of celebrating his (Ambedkar’s) significant contributions, Shah opted to insult this revered figure. This behavior is intolerable.”
Congress leaders asserted that the home minister’s comments have led to widespread discontent.
Sharma added that the protest march will emphasize Ambedkar’s invaluable legacy and underscore the Congress’ dedication to preserving his principles.
