NEW DELHI, Jan 1: The Congress party is set to initiate its ‘Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan Abhiyan’ across all blocks, districts, and states starting January 3. This initiative will culminate in a public rally in Mhow on January 26.
Originally scheduled for launch on December 27, the campaign was postponed following the passing of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on December 26, prompting a seven-day mourning period in his honor.
The decision to organize this campaign was made during the recent Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Belagavi on December 26.
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh noted that the implementation of the CWC’s resolution from December 26 was paused for a week as a sign of “deep respect” for Singh.
“It will take time to accept that he is no longer with us,” Ramesh remarked.
Nevertheless, the ‘Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan Abhiyan’ will recommence in various blocks, districts, and states on January 3, 2025, leading up to the rally at Dr. Ambedkar’s birthplace in Mhow on January 26, 2025. This date also marks the 75th anniversary of the Constitution of India and the establishment of the Republic of India,” he added.
In its resolution, the CWC reaffirmed Congress’s “fierce commitment” to safeguarding the Constitution and the principles of the Indian Independence Movement.
To this end, the CWC resolution included plans for the ‘Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan’ campaign, starting with a rally in Belagavi on December 27 and concluding with the Mhow rally on January 26.
Throughout January, rallies and marches will be organized in every block, district, and state as well.
Given the urgent need to uphold and promote the legacies of Mahatma Gandhi and the Constitution, this campaign is expected to extend beyond January 26, the resolution stated.
Furthermore, the CWC announced that from January 26, 2025, to January 26, 2026, Congress will launch a significant nationwide public outreach initiative named the ‘Samvidhan Bachao Rashtriya Padayatra,’ which will involve participation from all leaders.
“This padayatra will be conducted from village to village and township to township as a relay,” the CWC elaborated.
To conclude, an All India Congress Committee (AICC) session is planned for the first half of April 2025 in Gujarat. (Agencies)
