New Delhi, Dec 24: The Congress party is set to celebrate the centenary of the Belgaum session, which was chaired by Mahatma Gandhi, through an extended meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC). This session will formulate an action plan for the upcoming year.
The opposition party indicated that they will vigorously address the perceived “insult” to B R Ambedkar by Home Minister Amit Shah during the discussions in Belagavi.
During a joint press conference with Congress general secretary organization K C Venugopal and AICC media head Pawan Khera, Congress communications in-charge Jairam Ramesh announced that the extended CWC meeting on December 26 has been titled ‘Nav Satyagraha Baithak’.
Ramesh stated that the committee plans to pass two resolutions during this meeting.
He highlighted that the Congress is currently observing Ambedkar Samman Saptah in response to the “insult” to B R Ambedkar and called for the dismissal and apology from the Home Minister.
Furthermore, a ‘Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan’ rally is scheduled for December 27 in Belagavi.
Venugopal emphasized that the party is taking a strong stand on this issue and demands an official apology from Shah, while also exploring future steps during the discussions in Belagavi.
He noted that nearly 200 leaders are expected to attend this significant session, with Congress MPs, leaders, and thousands of supporters participating in the rally.
