The debate surrounding the dancing sequences in the upcoming film *Chaava*, featuring Vicky Kaushal as Sambhaji Maharaj and Rashmika Mandanna as Yesubai, raises significant questions about the boundaries of artistic expression in period and biographical cinema. A similar uproar occurred with the release of *Padmavat*, in which Deepika Padukone portrayed a Rajput queen in a dance sequence that sparked controversy. This backlash may have inadvertently propelled the film to success, leading the creators of *Chaava* to consider a similar strategy. One thing is certain: this controversy has certainly heightened the film’s visibility. It will be interesting to see how *Chaava* performs and how audiences react to it.
